I was extremely surprised to see Jeff Withey’s statline tonight. Thought not because of his status as a scrub, or his whiteness.
But because he was supposed to be dead.
I kind of wrote him off for good after Xavier Henry killed him with that poster dunk. “No way this guy is gonna return from the afterlife just to be a benchwarmer on the Pelicans”, I thought to myself. But I was wrong. Here he is. And it looks like he hasn’t suffered any ill effects from his passing.
He might even start getting more minutes if he keeps this up. How hard can it be to displace Greg Stiemsma and Alexis Ajinca for center minutes? All he has to do is not suck horribly and the starter job is his for the taking.
