While Carmelo Anthony scored a historic 62 points in the storied Madison Square Garden, a lesser known but equally gutsy player was making his own history in the Barclays Center.
How does 24 points in a quarter sound? Pretty good, right? Who on the Nets could achieve this amazing feat? Joe Johnson may be the first to come to mind. Or maybe Paul Pierce. Deron Williams? Good guesses all. But hold on to your butts as I reveal the basketball wizard behind this performance.
Mirza Teletovic.
I guess the video title kind of gave it away, huh?
How did this even happen, anyway? A career high in points in only 12 minutes of action? Mirza is a good shooter, but he’s more of a spot-up guy, not really someone who can create his own looks. Dallas didn’t respect his shooting for the first few scores. They eventually figured out that they should probably guard him, but by that point it was too late as he canned contested shot after contested shot. He cooled off a bit after his scorching 2nd quarter, but hit a few more shots including a clutch leaning-floater-banker thing to put the game away.
Bravo Mirza! Bosanski ratnik ubija sve neprijatelje! Mart nadalje za slavne domovinu!
