Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Career High 30 Points/5 Threes Full Highlights (4/16/2014)

Let us take a moment and reflect on the dismal failure that was the Pistons’ season. Remember: this was a team that wanted to make the playoffs. It’s not like they were tanking anything. They just constructed a roster to win games and failed at it. It’s kind of like the city of Detroit itself; lots of talk about a revitalization but when it comes down to it there is nothing but suck.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is not really a shining beacon of hope for next season. I mean, he kind of is, because he’s young, but like his entire team he hasn’t had a good year. He does have the lowest turnover percentage in the league. That’s cool. And he scored 30 tonight, which is unexpected but also expected, because the last night of the season produces the craziest statlines.

His shot looked as funky as it always does, he launches it more than shoots it, but tonight it was going in. The most impressive thing he did was execute a nice spin along the baseline for a huge dunk. That one got everyone on his team so over-pumped that they could only score 4 more points in the last 4 minutes to lose by 1.

If they had just not signed Josh Smith none of this would have happened.
