It’s been a while since I made John Wall highlights. He is not truly outside the scope of this channel, since he is a young player and not quite a “superstar” yet, but a quick search for John Wall videos on my channel reveals only two results, both from the 2012-13 season.
Maybe I just prefer scoring-focused highlights to assist-focused highlights. Anyway…
Such a search also reveals something much more embarrassing: in both videos, the descriptions insinuated that John Wall was a bust. While it is true that John Wall was underwhelming in his first two seasons in the league, he attained ‘legit’ status as of the 2012-13 season and his All-Star berth this year was wholly deserved.
Only DownToBuck would have the hubris to label players as busts, as if he alone wielded the scepter of bustitude. He does not wield this scepter. This scepter belongs to the fine folks down at ESPN. If you want definitive answers on who is a bust and who isn’t a bust, you’ll have to ask them. (To save you a trip, Thomas Robinson is probably still a bust. You’re welcome)
Rarely do I go back to old videos and correct misstatements that I have made. “Rarely” in this case meaning “never”. My descriptions are an archive of my thoughts as a basketball fan, and they should remain untouched. It’s sort of like going back to that Dragon Ball Z forum you posted on when you were eleven and seeing all the stupid crap you typed out that you thought was cool. Or going back on your Facebook timeline to see the “flirty” messages you posted on Jenny Travers’ wall during your sophomore year. Where do I keep my arsenic pills again?
Ridiculous bust proclamations aside, I want you guys to enjoy this video. Watching a short guy like Wall explode to the rim like he does in this video is nothing short of awesome, but watching him actually turn into a near-elite player is awesomer. When next year comes, I promise to only call people busts if they really deserve it, or if they only somewhat deserve it, or if my definition of “bust” remains overbroad, or I just want to see a lot of angry comments in the comment section.
You should read the first letter of every paragraph in this description. A hidden message from DTB awaits.
