Certain people like to get mad at Byron Scott for not playing Jeremy Lin enough minutes. I understand their frustration; if I was a fan of only one player in the league, I would definitely want to see that player get tons of minutes. And Jeremy even deserves them, in this case.
But these people forget about what the goal of this Lakers season was: tanking! Byron Scott is doing exactly what will cost the team games by not starting Lin. There is no other measure of success for the Lakers, any wins will put the team, paradoxically, behind in their development. He is too good of a player to play when you don’t want to win.
Lately it has become clear that Jeremy can play all he wants and it won’t make much of a difference in the win column, so poor is the Lakers’ current roster. Linsanity isn’t happening again, sad to say, but Linmarginalexcitement is definitely going on right now!
