This 23-point performance is Brian Robert’s career high. That’s all well and good, unless you were to search for Brian Roberts videos on my channel. Such a search would turn up a video which purports to show Brian Roberts scoring 24 points in an official, NBA-sanctioned game. That 24-point total would ostensibly be a career high, yet the NBA is pushing a narrative in which Robert’s 23 points is the highest he has ever scored in their league.
The problem lies with the fact that, in the earlier game, Roberts was credited for a basket which did not score, and by the next morning when I made the video, the error had not yet been corrected. I noted with much unease in the description of the video that I believed the NBA to be doing some sort of insidious “reality correction”. Two plus two equals five, indeed.
Well, some point after that video was made, the box score was corrected, and Roberts’ point total was revised down to 22. That was still his career high, though, until last night. Now B-Rob has scored a totally legit 23 points, free from any misattributed field goals. I can sleep easily at night, finally.
