Jason Terry, with the rest of his Rockets teammates, sat morosely in the locker room, not speaking. They knew that this was the end of their season. How could they forget?
The time had now come. With no more basketball left to be played, there was no reason to postpone the inevitable. Grabbing the white headband which had encircled his head day and night for the entirety of the postseason, that sweaty cotton diadem which meant more than any fan could ever know, Jason pulled it off his head.
His teammates had been informed of what was to come, so when the transformation began, none of them registered even a hint of surprise on their saddened faces. Meanwhile, Jason started to change. His brown skin became discolored, turning a verdant green. His jersey ripped as a scaly shell grew on his back. His already sizable muscles became larger and more pronounced.
After all these things, Jason reached into his locker, where a purple bandana had been waiting for the occasion. He tied it around his head, making sure to line up the eyeholes with his own yellow, glowing eyes. From the speakers in the locker room came the soft melody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song.
He was no longer Jason Terry. He was…Donatello. And to the sewers he would return.
