On a night where the Celtics tallied 39 assists, Avery Bradley has exactly zero of them. Now, I understand that the Celtics have two ball-handling PGs in Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart, plus a point-forward-type-thing named Evan Turner, but right now I don’t feel like allowing those facts to get in the way of my narrative. And my narrative is thus: Avery Bradley just is not a passer at all.
His assist numbers are actually up to start the year – his assist percentage puts him in the company of notorious chuckers like Jamal Crawford, Evan Fournier, and C.J. McCollum, but he’s far removed from the Nick Youngs, Gerald Greens, and Austin Riverses of the world. So I guess I need to reconsider, and possibly redirect, my scorn for this dude.
Here’s a fun fact I learned while doing my research: Omer Asik has yet to record an assist this year, and is also scoring a mere three points per 36 minutes. That has nothing do with Avery Bradley other than Bradley only has 23 more assists than Asik on the season. Now wasn’t that fact fun?
