Aron Baynes AKA “The Big Baynger” AKA “Masturbaynestion” fills a valuable role for the Pistons: he’s a big man who can hit free throws. This means that Baynes gets to enter the game whenever SVG decides the Drummond’s free throw woes are hurting the team. As a bonus, both Baynes and Drummond have the same robotic post moves that seem like they should never work and usually don’t. Unfortunately, “The Aussie Andre” is not nearly as good at vacuuming up rebounds as the real thing is, so the comparisons come to an end there.
I also found out an interesting tidbit while doing my internet research on this guy: he’s getting paid twice as much as Drummond is this year. 6.5 million per year for Aron Baynes sounds a bit like an overpay to me, but perhaps I’m underestimating the huge amount of Aussie butts he’s putting in the Palace seats.
