There are lots of reasons why the Suns’ implosion this year, culminating in the firing of their coach, is a good thing. Lots of reasons. Everyone loves a good surprise tankjob.
All of those reasons have to do with non-starter-quality players getting semi-starter-quantity minutes. Devin Booker, Archie Goodwin, Sonny Weems, Jordan McRae, formerly T.J. Warren, Mirza Teletovic, it’s all good for DownToBuck. The oncourt product may be nearly unwatchable, but who cares when you can watch distilled highlight packages of all the relevant performances?
A new coach won’t do much to improve the win situation in Phoenix. The cupboards aren’t exactly bare, but they are looking pretty meager compared to other non-horrible teams. Archie Goodwin should continue to get minutes at the point(????), since he’s the only PG-ish thing that they have on the roster, and that’s just fine with me.
