I was trying to figure out why I hadn’t yet this year made Tyler Zeller highlights. After sitting at my desk and engaging in baseless speculation for a few minutes, I figured it was probably because he’s a bad locker-room presence who regularly fights with teammates and coaches alike. It’s gotta be something like that because there’s no way that the C’s C rotation is strong enough to just deny Zeller minutes. I’m waiting for the day when an alert pops up on my phone “NBA suspends Celtics C Tyler Zeller for season after he punches coach Brad Stevens.”
Real talk coming up: this dude is getting DNP-CD’s every other game even though the only other center on the roster is Kelly Olynyk. And Olynyk’s not even really all that centery. Amir Johnson is similarly not really a center. So there’s only one center on the team, and that’s Zeller, yet he only gets nine minutes per game. Zeller was good last year so what’s the deal here? Can any Celtics fans clear this up for me? Has Brad Stevens taken his “genius young coach” reputation one step too far by never having a real center on the floor? Did he watch too many Warriors games or something?
