The All-Star break gets longer every year. When I started doing these videos, I think it was only about a weeklong break from normal basketball. It’s been creeping up over time, to the point where, this year, it was a whole three-and-a-half MONTHS without regular-season action. What are the players even doing during all that time? The All-Star game itself is getting lengthened too, all the way to 19 straight hours, but that hardly accounts for all the rest of the added time. And the dunk contest still only takes 2 days.
Well, it’s finally over, and I can, at long last, start making highlights again (the NBA has been known to ban highlight makers for doing vids of their precious All-Star events). And who better to start off with than everyone’s favorite hammer, Marcin Gortat?
His absence was conspicuous during the festivities, even though he would have been well-suited for any of the events. He can dunk. He can shoot threes. He has skills. His star is rising. In Poland, he is both a celebrity AND an All-Star in his own way. So why didn’t he get to participate? I smell a conspiracy, and also some delicious kielbasa.
