Another case of “DownToBuck sees that such-and-so player has a good amount of points in the first quarter and gets way too excited, imagining point totals for said player that end up being laughably optimistic”. This keeps happening, but can I be blamed for wanting to see Mario Hezonja score 25 or even 30? I know I am not alone in my desire to see him score that many points.
8 points in the first quarter was enough to set me off. He got a spot in the starting rotation for a reason, I thought to myself, and that reason wasn’t just because Evan Fournier was out. It was because Scott Skiles had cast aside his hatred for rookies and given the green light to Mario to shoot as many shots as he wanted, and didn’t want to waste any gametime by keeping him on the bench. He then went and scored only 5 more the whole rest of the game.
13 points is still pretty good, though.
