Kris Dunn was hyped up by the basketball media before the season started. Way hyped up. Way, WAY hyped up. The average fan can be forgiven for thinking that Dunn was going to be a beast from the opening tip; people were even talking about trading Ricky Rubio because of how quickly Dunn was going to take over the PG spot.
Let that be a lesson: unless the player in question is LeBron James, do not expect ANYTHING from a rookie. Doesn’t matter if they’re an older rookie, a younger rookie, a rookier rookie, a veteraner rookie. There is an overwhelming chance that they will not be consistently good for the first few months of the season. A few of them put it together by the end of their rookie season or even a little earlier, but rough starts the normalest of norms.
Dunn’s start has been one of the rougher ones. His shooting/scoring numbers are pretty abysmal. His assists are okay, but for a guy who was pegged as Rookie of the Year in that preseason GM poll, that’s not good enough. Hopefully Timberwolves fans realized that Karl-Anthony Towns’ excellent rookie year was not going to repeat for every subsequent rookie they drafted. I’m sure they did. Those darn Minnesotans are so reasonable all the god-damn time.
Love these rookie spotlights you do. Have you thought about adding in some defensive highlights too? The best parts of Dunn’s game last night were when he forced TOs. Happened half a dozen times, and it’d be pretty cool to see those included too!
Thanks for the vids, love em
