Wayne Ellington 19 Points Full Highlights (12/7/2016)

Wayne “Beef W” Ellington is the guy that teams sign to shore up their bench shooting, and then it turns out that he’s actually borderline starter material since he can fit in next to the alpha types who shoot twenty shots a game. But he’s also the guy that, if you end up starting him, it means that your shooting guard rotation sucks and that you’re probably not a very good team.

Is that why he’s been the ultimate journeyman his entire career? The Heat are his seventh stop in eight seasons, and since he started his career with the Timberwolves and spent three years there, he’s never been on one team for more than a season. His contract history is littered with one-year deals handed out by teams desperate for anybody who can hit 35% or better from beyond the long line. The Heat just gave him an unheard-of (for Beefy W) TWO year deal, so the trend might finally be broken, but the fact remains that Ellington’s career will be over in the next five years and nobody will remember him at all because he never ingrained himself with any one fanbase.

I’ll remember, though. I’ll just sit here, remembering. And crying.
