I may have erred when I (prematurely) crowned Wilson Chandler with the 6MOTY Of The Year crown. Both Lou Williams and Wilson Chandler are leading their respective teams in scoring, but Lou is doing it while scoring more points. He also had thirty-five in his last game; Chandler had five points on 2-of-16 from the field. These happenings mean that the 6MOTY Of The Year race is not as over as I thought it was.
Luckily, the hashtag I created to bolster Chandler’s candidacy for the award, #illwill666 (the sixes stand for being the “sixth” man), can also be used to refer to Lou Williams. Sure, Ill Will has never been his nickname, but if pressed I can just say I got the nicknames confused. This way, no matter who wins the award (because it’s basically a two-man race at this point), I can say that my hashtag was a key component of their success. It will be the first time in NBA history that the preeminent highlight channel of the time (in this case, my channel) will have significantly altered the outcome of an end-of-season award.
Next step: convince the voters that Giannis should be MVP this year. Hashtag pending but you know it will be catchy, recognizable, and cost 25 cents to use.
