Norman Powell played a total of 18 minutes the last three games. That’s 6 minutes per game for those of you who can’t do maths. That’s not very many minutes. At all. You’re telling me, that in a 44 point win against the Hawks, Dwayne Casey couldn’t find more than 6 minutes for Normal Powenn? And now he gets to start. Going from not playing to starting, all because DeMarre Carroll who isn’t even good wasn’t available.
Powell offers a lot of the same stuff the Carroll supposedly does, and it’s good to have a plug-and-play replacement for when Carroll’s hair falls off. Powell dunks it with more ferocity, and has less veteran savvy, but otherwise, yeah, they’re both basketball players. That’s what you want in your backup. If you had a non-basketball player in that role instead, you’d find yourself in a bad spot very quickly.
