I understand the difficulties of being a commentator for nationally televised games. You’re dealing with viewers who have no idea what’s going on in the NBA, viewers who have to be brought up to speed with the various storylines during any possible break in the game. Sometimes, there still isn’t enough time, and you have to blatantly ignore in-game action to cover all that needs to be covered. I understand that.
But would it have killed them to acknowledge Steven Adams’ career-high 24 points? They didn’t mention it when he tied his career high, or when he surpassed it multiple times. Yeah, I know it’s another assist for Russell Westbrook. That’s great. I love triple doubles. But I also love seeing a valuable role-player step outside his usual role and score hella points, and I love seeing his contributions recognized. He, and New Zealanders all across the world, were denied this recognition.
If they ever start to wonder why ESPN is losing money, that’s why. People pay good money to come watch these athletes play, and they try to take over the frickin’ game.
