I have to admit, whoever came up with the nickname “Serge Protector” for Serge Ibaka is a much cleverer man than I. It’s perfect. It’s the perfect nickname. I bow before thee and thy superior moniker-creation skills.
However, whoever came up with the idea to play a car crash sound effect after Ibaka blocks a shot/scores a bucket is an absolute dumbass. The sound of cars crashing together is like a top-three panic-inducing sound after babies crying and sirens wailing. You don’t just use a sound effect like that all willy-nilly.
Happily, the Magic stadium people stopped doing it after the first few times. They must have received tons of complaints, and rightfully so, because that is just a mind-bogglingly oblivious decision to make. This isn’t a god-damn blooper reel. Ibaka doesn’t need sound effects to make his blocks seem impressive.
