Every game that passes where the 76ers’ logjam at center persists, I get more and more pissed off. Nerlens Noel did everybody a favor by re-injuring himself but there’s still this other tall guy named Joe Edmund or something who’s taking all the minutes. I don’t care about Joe Edmund. I care about Jahlil Okafor and his ability to score eighteen points per game on middling efficiency while not playing defense.
What needs to happen very soon, before I lose it totally, is Jokafor getting traded to a team that has no bigs who can score. If there are no bigs on the roster who meet the “scorer” criteria, then Jokafor automatically becomes the target for about twenty post-entry passes per game if not more. The Blazers and Suns are coming to mind here. You could easily pitch such a trade to both teams: “Hey Blazers wanna make a playoff push here take Jahlil Okafor look how many points per game he scored in his rookie year!” or “Hey Suns you can tank even better with this guy who puts up empty stats!” It can be spun either way. It’s great. It’s like this trade is already made in the future and I’m actually quoting what was said when it went down because I’m a time-traveller.
So, yeah. Expect more of this type of performance, except better, if Colangelo does the sane thing and moves Jokafor.
