I keep seeing comments on the internet like “Don’t diss James Jones, he’s been to the finals five straight times” or “LeBron is getting carried by James Jones”. This disturbs me. I’m all for the glorification of role-players, but it looks like some people have messed up ideas about the quality of James Jones.
Here’s the deal: LeBron James is the reason Jones has been to the finals so many times. It is NOT because Jones is an especially good player. Look at the stats. Sometimes stats lie, but this is not one of those times, because LeBron’s stats are way, way, WAY, EXTREMELY, like SUPER TOTALLY better than Jones’. It’s not even close. Not even in the same galaxy. Even if Jones had all the intangibles in the world, there’s no way he’s carrying LeBron to multiple Finals appearances and eventual rings.
I don’t know why this is so hard for people to understand. Do they even watch the games? Jones doesn’t even get to play in a lot of them! I feel like I’m the only sane person in a world full of gibbering ignorami.
