The “start Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari together and see what happens” experiment is returning promising results. The game prior to this, a twenty-point loss to the lowly Mavericks, saw Darrell Arthur get the start. That worked out rather poorly so a new lineup was attempted against the Trailblazers, and, guess what, the Nuggets dropped 74 points in the first half.
It seems all my baseless hypothesizing on the coexistence of Chandler and Gallinari was misguided. They can obviously play alongside each other with Gallinari as the power forward and it always results in huge amounts of points. We can ignore for now the fact that the Blazers are literally the worst defense in the league. That has no bearing on how many points the other team scores. Gallo would have done this against any team playing any kind of defense. The Bad Boy Pistons would have run crying out the door once they realized that they would have to try to defend Gallo and his ability to score from anywhere on the court in every imaginable way.
Just for old time’s sake, though, I wish Galloping Gallo would bring back that ridiculously horrible neckbeard that he has sported on-and-off throughout his Nuggets tenure. It was like the fuzz from a frayed brown sweater, but it was growing on his face. Crazy.
