It just occurred to me that if Kentavious Caldwell-Pope never becomes a star in this league (his ceiling doesn’t seem quite that high but who knows), then I’m looking at another ten years of making KCP highlights every time he scores more than 23 points in a contest. That’s a long time to make highlights for a player that nobody outside of the state of Michigan will ever care about. I don’t know if I would be able to withstand the tedium of that monumental task. We’re talking like eight or ten videos a year. Last year was eight KCP vids; the year before was eleven; we’re already at four this year. That’s not only a lot of footage that is only of interest to his most ardent fans; it’s also a lot of wasted words in my video descriptions.
This is stressing me out big time. Maybe I should hire an assistant who can make KCP videos in my stead when I’m not feeling up to it (which is most of the time these days). I would never go so far as to wish injury upon a player, but maybe KCP will have a change of heart and abandon his basketball career to help starving kids in Africa. That would be just as good as a career-ending injury in terms of ending his career.
Cross your fingers people.
