The court of public opinion has revised its earlier judgment on Devin Booker. That judgment being “wow this kid is such a studmuffin hes going to be a star look at his shooting form wow”. Their new judgment is “wow what an inefficient chucker look at these advanced stats that show him to be one of the worst players in the league”.
That’s what happens sometimes. You show too much too quickly, and all of a sudden people start expecting things from you. Devin Booker showed promise as a rookie, having his share of big scoring games, and people, to steal a term from some coach or something, “crowned his ass”. Now, it turns out he’s not really ready for a featured role in an offense, and people are getting mad. People feel like they’ve been lied to, when it was themselves doing the lying.
Damn, I read that last sentence again, and it was super profound. You could apply that sentence to a whole range of topics and would still sound just as smart. I should delete the rest of the description and keep only that sentence.
