Someone tell me why Ryan Anderson isn’t averaging 20 points a game this season. He’s on the ROCKETS, for Christ’s sake! The Rockets with MIKE D’ANTONI as head coach! That’s the perfect storm for a three-point chucker to chuck as many three-pointers as he wants without any repercussions. But here we are, a third of the way through the season, and Ryno is only averaging 13-ish points.
Just by looking at his stats, it’s clear to see that his two-point attempts have gone way down this season. Last year, he was the king of the midrange fadeaway, greater even than Dirk himself. Check out my fadeaway-ilation for him if you doubt this fact. This year, I don’t know if he’s even taken ONE of those shots. That could account for his dip in scoring, but it also could be because James Harden is freezing him out of the offense because he’s scared that someone might score more points than he does.
I like that second explanation better. Stats are lame. Chemistry issues are way cooler.
