The NBA did right by me when they changed the All-Star voting to not take the consideration of the fans into account as much as before. I’m going to call their decision the “Zaza Effect”.
They knew what was at stake. They knew that if things didn’t change, Pachulia would have been voted the starting center for the Western Conference team. Georgians almost got him into the All-Star game last year just by themselves, and that was when he was on the Mavericks. Now he’s on the Warriors. Imagine the combined efforts of Georgians and Warriors bandwagoners! The final result would make a mockery of the whole system.
Pachulia was kind of good last year for Dallas, putting up tons of double-doubles until reality caught up with him near the end of the season. If he had made the All-Star game that season, he would have been the worst All-Star ever, but only slightly worse than Jamaal Magloire. This year, forget about it. It would be a joke to end all jokes. He’s kind of playing his role well for the Warriors, sure, I guess, but I’m positive they wish they had someone who could at least pretend to be able to move around the court.
And don’t say JaVale McGee. He doesn’t count, and you know exactly the reason why.
