Frickin’ finally. FINALLY. I don’t know why the heck the Pistons would sign Boban Marjanovic to a big multiyear deal if they’re not even going to play him. Someone posited the theory that he’s insurance for when Aron Baynes’ contract runs its course? But that’s obviously BS because Baynes sucks and has stupid hair and Marjanovic is frickin’ 7’3″. The defense rests, your honor.
Here’s the real sitch: I don’t know what the real sitch is. Must be something about Marjanovic not being able to move well enough on defense, because that’s basically the only knock on him. I’d say he makes up for it in other areas, like being really tall and being able to do whatever he wants because of how tall he is, but I’m not an NBA head coach. I wish I was (I could totally do what Tyronn Lue is doing), but I’m not.
Well, the shackles have come off for the Bobanator. 22 minutes, 15 points, 19 rebounds, and a whole bunch of free throws. Spencer Hawes didn’t know what to do with him at all. Who can blame him? There was just no way he could counter Marjanovic’s tremendous girth and length.
