Buddy Hield has hit the rookie wall. Again. I think this is the third time; there was a smallish one right at the start of the season, which he plowed right into first thing, and there was another bigger one in November which took him a lot longer to get over, then there was clear sailing for a bit, and now in January he’s hit the latest one. Every time he looks like he’s turned a corner it turns out there’s just another rookie wall waiting for him.
It’s probably too late for him to considered for the ROY award, as I had predicted he would win before the season started. Joel Embiid has that thing locked up unless he gets convicted for murder or something equally horrible. The best Buddy can hope for now is to be voted to one of the All-Rookie teams, which is pretty much the least noteworthy distinction that the NBA conveys. I mean, just look at some of those dudes who were on those teams a few years ago. MarShon Brooks was on one of those teams.
Speaking of which, I really want to see Mar$wag back in the league. Now that Kobe is gone, we need to get Kobe 0.3 on a team. For real. Not even joking.
