Joe Johnson 27 Points Full Highlights (2/8/2017)

I don’t remember Joe Johnson looking this slow when he scored 29 the first game of the season. Did he use up all his energy on that one? He hasn’t scored 20 since then, until tonight. I don’t think I’ve seen this many buckets scored by just slowly dribbling around and shooting since I last played at the Y. So, two days ago. Even longer if you limit the search to only NBA players.

Johnson has been doing his thing for a long time now. At some point, the play style that earned him his derogatory nickname “Iso Joe” turned into a positive rather than a negative. Listen to how many times the Jazz commentators talk about “Joe Time”. I thought the Jazz were all about ball and player movement? Not just some oldster doing deliberate moves while his teammates watch? He did have one semi-explosive move against Anthony Davis, I guess, but the rest of it, man, where was the defense?

I can’t be too harsh; he’s gonna hit 20,000 points soon, maybe not this season, but definitely the next. 20,000 is the magical barrier where no one can talk crap about you anymore. Think about it: when was the last time you heard anyone diss Tom Chambers? Point proven.
