It really sucks that Stephen Curry isn’t having as good of a season as he is capable of, because his lackluster-ness is causing people to not care about Seth Curry as much as they should. Come on people! Seth is basically a legit third option on an NBA team right now. It might not be the best NBA team, it may be an NBA team fielding a roster containing more and more D-Leaguers, but it’s still an NBA team, and Seth is still putting up numbers on it.
Then again, maybe people shouldn’t care too much. If we take his name recognition away and rename him “Jerry Brookings”, only the diehard scrub lovers (like me) would be taking notice of his recent 30-point-ish games. We’d think it’s impressive that a guy who was the fringiest of fringe players at the start of his career was contributing meaningfully to a team, but no one would be getting over-hyped about him. So I guess the current level of hype for Seth “Jerry Brookings” Curry is appropriate. It’s the start of him being judged on his own merits, rather than the merits of his brother.
