With no Serge Ibaka around (he got traded somewhere cold as punishment), Aaron Gordon is finally free to play his natural position, which is power forward, I think. He’s never been good enough for him to conclusively answer the question of his natural position, because he tends to underwhelm no matter what situation you put in him, but since he can’t shoot that well unless it’s summer league, power forward it is. Frank Vogel might have different ideas, but nobody cares about what real NBA coaches have to say about this stuff. My opinion is, honestly, 10x more important.
Gordon’s dunk totals continue to flourish with the removal of Ibaka, as he had four in this game alone. He’s still at just 52 on the season, but if he keeps this up, he could easily get that up to 100 by the time the season ends. 100 is a totally arbitrary number that has nothing to do with anything, but Magic games are almost entirely meaningless at this point, so he’s gotta have something to motivate him. Chasing 100 dunks in a season could definitely be that motivation. He doesn’t realize how lucky he is to be able dunk it so easily. If I played in the NBA and could dunk I would go out of my way to do it in-game as often as possible, even if it had a detrimental effect on my own stats and my team’s chancse of winning.
