What if…WHAT IF…James Johnson were a #2 guy on a team, and got minutes in line with being the #2 guy (say thirty minutes per game)? Would he average 16/5/5 as a go-to scorer and ball-handler? Or would he collapse under the weight of a role that was too big for him? The Heat are too busy trying to make the playoffs to displace first banana Goran Dragic and second banana Luke Babbitt (j/k it’s Hassan Whiteside LOL [lots of laughs]), so it’s unlikely that we’ll find out this year.
You might not be aware of this, but James Johnson AKA LeBron Lite just turned thirty. We are watching his prime right now. His prime will only extend for one or maybe one and a half years past this very moment in time. If we’re going to be allowed to see what kind of damage he can inflict as a featured player on a team, it’s going to have to be next year. Luckily for us, Johnson is on a one-year deal currently and has certainly played himself into a large contract either from the Heat or some other team that wants to have an adequate fascimile of LeBron onboard.
However, I will immediately boycott any team that signs Johnson but fails to give him adequate control over the offense. That means no highlights for players for that team. And I won’t even mention them in video descriptions. You have to treat James Johnson right or you pay the price.
