Channing Frye 21 Points Full Highlights (3/4/2017)

Austin Carr, the “crazy” half of the Cavs broadcasting duo, seemed very subdued for the entirety of the second half of this game. I didn’t go back to see how he sounded in the first half, but I have to imagine that he started the game with his usual pep and then had it slowly sapped as the gulf in scores between the Cavs and Heat got bigger and bigger. Usually he gets hyped up for Channing Frye (or anybody else) hitting three-pointers, but this game it’s like they tranquilized him and all he can do is blandly intone platitudes about how nice it is that Frye found his shot.

You know it’s bad when that crazy old man doesn’t bleat “Deep in the Q!” even one time. I’ve thrown a lot of shade on Carr in the past because he was truly annoying to me, but now I’m actually worried about him. He sounded like he had dementia before but maybe this is the final stage of his dementia, where he doesn’t even remember that he should be getting excited for his team. Or he knows that LeBron is sitting out for flimsy/non-existent reasons (unless “rest” is a valid reason which it isn’t), and he’s protesting LeBron’s absence by commentating the game as boringly as possible.

Frye even had a dunk this game and the only mention of it was that other commentary dude saying like four words about it before moving on to some other subject. Where’s the “THROWS…THE HAMMER…DOOOOOOOOOWN”? I had to yell it myself because I felt so empty without it. Now my neighbors are mad at me but at least I feel a little better.
