Ricky Rubio Triple Double 11 Pts/13 Rebs/10 Asts Full Highlights (3/4/2017)

Just before the trade deadline, there were a bunch of rumors discussing a possible Ricky Rubio/Derrick Rose swap between the Knicks and the Timberwolves. Now, I’m no GM, but doesn’t that seem like the worst idea ever for Minnesota? I know Thibs doesn’t like Rubio, but to replace him with Rose, who can’t pass and and can’t shoot? At least Rubio can pass.

Obviously, these were only rumors, and we’ll never know how close this deal was to happening. Maybe it was a one-time discussion that went nowhere. Maybe it was practically a done deal before Phil Jackson panicked and asked for Jordan Hill as well, blowing the entire thing to smithereens. One thing’s for sure: as much as Timberwolves sometimes dislike Rubio for his lack of scoring ability, they’d dislike Rose 10 times as much for his lack of anything ability.

Just out of (morbid) curiosity, I looked up the last time Derrick Rose had a triple-double. Turns out, the last time was also the ONLY time, back in January of 2011. 2011. That was like 6 years ago. Kids who were born that year are already in college. Triple-doubles aren’t the be-all end-all of point guard value, but it is kind of off-putting that an MVP-caliber player only has one in his entire career.

I should just say screw it and start doing Derrick Rose highlights. I think he’s regressed his way back onto this channel.
