Now is about the time in the season when I start clamoring for unlimited minutes/shot attempts for the rookies around the NBA. I can’t complain, though, about the leeway that Brandon Ingram has been given this year, and agitating for even more opportunities wouldn’t make sense. The Lakers’ coaching staff has shown an incredible amount of patience with their prized rookie, giving him almost 30 minutes per game despite his lack of production.
Screw it, I’m going to suggest it anyway: Brandon Ingram needs to have the shackles taken off his skinny wrists! Give him more minutes, more touches, more one-on-one coaching sessions with Magic Johnson, force feed him the ball and run the offense through him and only him! Don’t let anyone else shoot, even. How is Ingram gonna get better if he doesn’t get to hone his scoring craft on every single possession? Kobe scored 60 last year, and he could barely move. Is it wrong to think that Ingram could do the same?
