Unlike my last Clint Capela video, which was ruined by free throws (the Grizzlies are now on my official list of teams who I will refuse to make highlights of, forever, because they were hacking my man Clint), this video is not ruined by free throws because the Capellmeister didn’t make any of his free throws. Alright, so he made one of them. One free throw isn’t going to ruin a video. I can deal with one free throw as long as there’s an understanding that a player shouldn’t be making any more than that.
To make up for his somewhat disappointing free throw percentage this year (tied with Dwight LOL [lots of laughs]), Capela is shooting 64% from the field, one of three Rockets bigs who’s shooting above 60% this season (Harrell is at 65%, Nene 62%). These guys understand that their role is to allow Harden to find them for easy buckets and then covert on those easy buckets. Their role is not to do any of the following: shoot jumpers; create offense on their own; dribble; do post moves; or pass. Everybody benefits in this situation; Harden gets to pad his assist totals, the bigs get to pad their field goal percentage, and DownToBuck gets to make highlights that involve a lot of dunks. Win-win-win. I like it.
