Gary Harris, with this game, has stepped boldly into a new era of his career: the era where he scores points so effortlessly that it doesn’t even seem like he’s scoring a ton of points but he actually is. I don’t think the Nuggets commentators even realized that he set a career-high in this game, and that was because Harris was so low-key about his bucket-acquisition.

Some people may think that the above paragraph is a slight on Gary Harris. I assure that it is not. The best scorers are the ones who can drop 40 without anyone even realizing what’s going on. Lull the opponent to sleep, you know.

At some point, he became an elite three-point shooter. That was another thing he did quietly. One day, he’s a decent but unremarkable marksman from outside, the next, he’s an unstoppable flamethrower torching defenses with an accurate long-bomb. Prior to this game, he was 10th in the whole league in three-point percentage. A league where perimeter shooting is of more importance than ever, and Harris is one of the best of the best.

Add his tremendous athleticism to his outside shooting, and you have a prototypical shooting guard for the modern NBA, a Ben McLemore-type who doesn’t suck. In this league facing a dearth of quality SGs, I bet there are tons of teams who would love to have him. But they can’t. Because the Nuggets have him, and they’re not giving him up for cheap.

Given all of this, I don’t understand why people aren’t more excited for him. Why isn’t there more buzz? I just don’t get why people aren’t…
