It seems like it’s been awhile since I heard anything about Iman Shumpert, even though he’s a starter on a championship contender. Getting rid of his flattop must have really cost him some visibility in the NBA world. It’s a well-known fact that people care about players with unique (and noticeable) hairstyles more than their level of play would suggest.
He’s still basically doing the same things he always has, except he’s way more efficient this year. That alone should be enough to get some hype building around him, but he doesn’t offer much in the way of raw points, and no one cares about his defense, if he is even still really good on that end. Remember, I don’t care about defense and I have no way of telling if Shumpert is good at or not, but that doesn’t matter, because I don’t care about it anyway.
