I don’t really understand why Kyle “Irish Black Santa” O’Quinn doesn’t get more minutes. The Knicks season is over. If he’s not going to be a part of their future plans, they could at least pump up his trade value by letting him get a few 15-15 games. Just like they themselves were fooled by his per36 numbers in Orlando, I bet there are a bunch of teams who would look at his gaudy stats and trade something of value for him. Remember, he’s on what is called a “value contract” right now. With all these bigs getting paid ridiculous money to not do much (how did the Bucks trade Miles Plumlee again?), O’Quinn’s measly 4 million per year contract probably looks pretty damn good.
It’s probably too late to fool other teams into thinking he can shoot threes, but there’s definitely still time to fool teams into thinking he can produce as a starting bigman for 30 minutes a night without fouling out. Like tonight! He played 25 minutes, scored 23 points, hit a midrange jumper, this is the kind of thing other teams will see and decide they have to have.
