The Timberwolves commentators alleged that Ricky Rubio now has a streak of four games with twenty or more points, so I fact-checked them and it turns out they were right! You can’t blame me for being skeptical; after all, we’re talking about the same Ricky Rubio that had just fifteen twenty-point games in his entire career before this little run of scoring-focused games.
If Ricky’s jumper has truly improved and this isn’t just a mirage, then it’s time to reinsert Ricky into the “top 10 PG” discussion, a discussion that he had been left out of for a while due to a preponderance of guards in the NBA who can both shoot and pass. I personally don’t spent too much effort trying to rank players or categorize them as “top five” or “top ten” or “top thirty” but there are a lot of people out there who like that stuff so I throw them a bone every once in a while. If anything, I like to figure out the “bottom five” point guards because I’m mean and I hate everything in the universe.
But back to Ricky. His eyes, man. It’s like you look into them one time and you’re enchanted forever. They’re so expressive. On my death bed, the thought of Ricky’s beautiful eyes will bring me comfort in the face of the onrushing black void of death.
