It’s not often that you see 10-dayers come to their new NBA team and start right away. If it does happen, it’s usually a team that’s blatantly tanking. Not a team like the Pelicans, who still have vague playoff hopes with their freshly assembled twin towers. Why not start E’Twaun Moore? He sucks, but at least he knows how to play in the NBA kind of.
Wayne Selden hasn’t been super impressive thus far. That is to be expected. The transition from D-League to NBA is harsh. He must have some sort of intriguing potential for the Pelicans to be putting him in such a position. He does look the part of a prototypical shooting guard, and is slightly bigger than Moore and Jordan Crawford? I don’t know. This whole sitch is just as confusing for me as it must be for Selden.
Selden actually did some stuff this game, obviously, because you’re watching the highlights. 11 points, three triples, and a dunk that was really close to getting rejected by the rim. The kind of game a legit NBA player could possibly have.
