There are two kinds of Ricky Rubio videos this year: ones where a bunch of his assists are the result of Karl-Anthony Towns shooting only because Rubio passed it to him, and ones where only a few of his assists are the result of Karl-Anthony Towns shooting only because Rubio passed it to him. This particular vid falls in the first category.
It’s like that one time I tried to play NBA2K (I suck at video games), I made a PG that got drafted by the Knicks and I spammed passes to Carmelo Anthony for free assists. That’s what Rubio is doing right now, maybe not consciously, but on some level he knows he can get free assists just for passing it to KAT. Meanwhile, in these last dozen or so Rubio vids I’ve done this year, by comparison, he hardly dishes any assists to Andrew Wiggins. What’s up with that?
Come to think of it, I don’t think he’s passed it to Zach LaVine even once the whole month.
