Darren Collison has shown enough in his three years in Sacramento, more than enough actually, that some team will pay him a large amount of money to be their new starting ponit guard. They’ll look at his good shooting percentages and his acceptable passing ability and say to themselves “that right there is a guy we can pay twelve million dollars per year to.”
After that, the outlook becomes a little blurry. Before he got to the Kings, Collison wore out his welcome on three different teams in three years. In two of those stops, he was supposed to be the starter, but effort issues drew the ire of his coaches. Who’s to say that he won’t do that again once he lands somewhere that’s not Sacramento and has a fat check coming towards him whether he plays hard or not? Collison with effort is a player most teams would want to have, especially if they have another ball-handler who can do all the play-making. Collison without effort is a player that a team would only want to have if they’re tanking or if they just crave locker room strife. Or if they like having known wife-batterers on their team.
