The Hawks are keeping their heads above water in the East playoff race, even with their recent 7 game losing streak. Atlanta fans probably already knew how vital Paul Millsap was to their team, but for the rest of us, it’s kind of shocking how the Hawks are doing right now. Isn’t Dwight Howard supposed to be good? And Dënniß ßchrööder? A team with those two players shouldn’t be all that bad.
Advanced stats seem to say that ßchrööder is fool’s gold, putting up good-looking stats while not being very impactful. His cause is not helped by having two absolutely horrible backup PGs, Malcolm Delaney and Jose Calderon, which means he has to do a bulk of the shot-creation for his team. I don’t know if those advanced stats are lying to me or what, because when I watch Hawks games, he seems to be doing okay. Except for the turnovers. Oh man, the turnovers. 8 this game, 10 a few games ago, those are Westbrook or Harden numbers. Maybe advanced stats would like him more if he could do something about that pesky assist-to-turnover ratio.
