Kentavious Caldwell-Pope took 22 shots last night, by far the most on the team and his second-highest FGA this season. This could be construed as a bad thing, given that there is at least one player on the team that is a more potent offensive threat (hint: it’s the player that was on the Bucks but we nearly ruined him and then traded him for nothing), but it could also be seen as a sign that KCP is filling out into his role as a go-to scorer.
2-of-10 from three could also be construed as a bad thing, but here’s my positive take on it since I don’t want to anger Pistons fans anymore: KCP isn’t afraid of taking the big shots. He also knows that his three-ball can get hot enough to drag his team back from a deficit. So he shoots them, and he doesn’t worry about the fact that maybe the last five of them haven’t exactly gone through the net. He just knows that his team needs a consistent three point shooter (Marcus Morris GTFO) and that he has the capability of being that shooter, at least on some nights.
All that said, Pistons fans are probably enraged right now as their playoff hopes dwindle, so all those comforting words I just typed? Not really gonna help them feel better right now.
