Skal Labissiere hasn’t lived up to the hype that I placed upon him after he scored 32 points a month ago. Normally, players of his caliber and situation wait until around this time of year to unleash their fury, but he blew his load a month early, leading to a whole month of me wondering where the heck his 20-point games are. He doesn’t have any yet! Only that one 32-pointer and a bunch of low-teens crap.
This is the first game since then that resembled even slightly that insane outburst. Much like that one, he does it all in this one, except for the Dirk-style fadeaways. He opens things up with a pair of gigantic shmushes, adds some little hooks in the paint, then a couple of jumpers, and a free throw where the commentator spends 20 seconds talking about Tool. I’m finding it hard to believe that that old dude actually listens to Tool, so who’s the joker who thought it would be funny to have him say all that stuff?
