Uh… what just happened? The Nuggets have been divested of their playoff hopes thanks to the late-game heroics of one Russell Westbrook (or as the Nuggets commentator says, “Wussell Restbrook”). This was kind of a choke job, and part of the blame has to fall on Nikola Jokic. Not all of the blame, but some of it. Flagrant fouls aren’t cool and neither is getting T’d up for disputing your flagrancy with the ref. Doesn’t matter how biased the refs are being. That’s three free points given up right there.
This might end up being the last highlight vid of the year for Magic Jokson. The Nuggets have little reason to play him after tonight, and a lot of reasons to give all his minutes to Juan Hernangomez and Roy Hibbert (well maybe not that dude). I could be wrong, maybe they’ll play out the season with their normal rotations, but I doubt it. If this does represent the final hurrah of Jokic’s amazing season, that’ll be kind of sad, but I bet he has some Euro competition to play in this summer, right? That’s a happy thought. Maybe I’ll even make highlights.
