Believe me or don’t, but this is Yogi Ferrell’s second-best scoring game after that 9-triple outburst he had on national TV. That game really messed with people’s perceptions of him, maybe irreversibly. And who can blame them? Unless you’re a Mavs fan or a ravenous highlights-consumer or a fantasy-fanatic, literally the only thing you’ve seen from him is a whole bunch of triples with Dirk cheering him on. But Ferrell, if we’re being honest, hasn’t been anything more than average in his time with the Mavs, and that 32-point game was not indicative of anything other than that sometimes dudes who shoot threes get hot.
It sounds like I’m hating, and maybe I am. I’m just mad that I was the one who enjoyed Ferrell’s time in Brooklyn a lot, and then everyone came in and started pretending that they liked him as well. That’s all. Ferrell was MY scrub, and it sucks to see him put into a brighter spotlight.
