Is Bobby Brown ruining James Harden’s already flagging campaign for MVP? He just put up fifteen points and nine assists, proving once again that any shooting guard in the D’Antoni system can put up pretty-looking numbers that include a lot of assists as long as they put their mind to it. Voters are going to look at how Brown put up this vaguely Harden-esque statline, then look at the Thunder and see nobody even coming close to putting up Westbrook-esque statlines, and they’ll conclude that Harden is a system babby and therefore the award should go to Westbrook.
Another thing Bobby Brown is doing is reminding me heavily of Marcus Thornton. From the tubby, bald head to the love of shooting shots to the whole “being on the Rockets” thing, the similarities are just too much. Of course, Thornton isn’t on the Rockets anymore (he isn’t on any team anymore), and he’s a bit younger, but the thing with similarities is that they don’t have to be exact matches. Brown is “similar” to Thornton, nothing more. If he doesn’t score at least twenty in the last game of the season, I will be very disappointed.
