At the end of last season, Spencer “Din-Dins” Dinwiddie showed us something. Not only did he show us that a player with a 70’s-era fro/moustache combo can look cool in the 2010’s, he showed us that he has a little bit of game as a tall, rangy point guard who can shoot and pass. Now, with Lin out for the season (RIP in peace), Dinwiddie will have even more chances to establish himself as a real player in the league.
I have just one question: is current Spencer Dinwiddie better than current Michael Carter-Williams? They have their similarities, namely that they’re both tall for the point guard position, but every time I make a Din-Dins highlight video, I’m struck by how controlled his dribbles are, and how smooth his shot looks, compared to the out-of-control ball-handling and awkward hoists of MCW. Maybe, in a larger role like the roles MCW has had over his career, Din-Dins’ shine would fade a little bit, but for now I’m just happy to watch this 70’s-looking mofo do his thing.
